Dear CEO of Murphy USA Mr. Andrew Clyde:
I am writing this email to report a VERY INSULTING DEEPLY HURTING INCIDENT that happened to me today at your store in Marietta, GA. I went to buy a cartoon of cigarettes (Marbolo Menthol Gold Pack, Shorts) and the cashier (Ms. Roni) said that she can't sell me the cigarettes because I might be reselling the cigarettes at another gas station. I told her repeatedly (at least 6 times) that I am buying the cigarettes for myself and not at all reselling to anyone or to any other gas station. She refused to sell me the cigarettes and asked me to report to whomever I want to.
This incident that happened to me few minutes ago in front of several customers present at that time is ABSOLUTELY INSULTING TO ME, DEMEANING TO ME AND I AM DEEPLY HURT. Just because I am being an Indian-American, she might have assumed that I might be reselling the cigarettes my gas station. Neither I own a gas station nor I resell the cigarettes to anyone. I buy the cigarettes for myself. I am employed at a private sector company. It is outright stereotyping of me, that being an Indian, I might own a gas station and I might be reselling the cigarettes that I buy at Murphy USA store. This is similar to stereotyping of calling all Muslims as Islamic Terrorists, Mexican men as rapists, African-American men of Chicago as murderers.
I would like to get a proper explanation of the above incident from the top management of Murphy US, including the explanation from the CEO Mr. Andrew and SVP/General Counsel Mr. John. If I don't hear from the people responsible to resolve this issue couple of days, I will highlight this insulting and deeply hurting incident at one of the Murphy USA stores on social media outlets, seek advice from attorneys for me to take appropriate course of action, etc.
My contact details are below.
