I am writing to you today to help support our school. We are in need of sports equipment for our children’s school. Whitesburg Elementary is small school in Whitesburg, Georgia. The faculty is wonderful and the school has done great academic scoring statewide for multiple years in a row, which is such a blessing. We have fundraisers and donation times throughout the year, but our donation and fundraising money goes to technology and academic needs, as it is important for our school to stay competitive and enrich the minds of these young ones. With that being said, it is also important for these kids to have a break, have fun, and enjoy sports. I remember as a child, the time I looked forward to the most in the school day was P.E. We learned all kinds of sports and games, sportsmanship, and how to be apart of a team through our P.E. curriculum.
Unfortunately, the school’s P.E. equipment has not been replaced for over almost a decade due to not having enough funds in budget. Eight years ago our P.E. teacher was given $500 to buy what was needed, but as you know even the best quality items would not last long with 300+ students using the equipment. Throughout the school year, if 30 students at four classes a day use the equipment, a total of 120 students daily or 600 students weekly use this equipment. Not to mention they are children ages 4-11, so you can only imagine what kinds off wear and tear these go through as most kids this age are rough.
As a parent (with 3 children), in a one-income household, it is not always possible to afford fundraising products, especially multiple times a year, to help support the school. Being a small school, means being a small community. Although we are a strong community, there are still a lot of families in our situation, who want to help but by no means can afford to help.
Any support would be greatly appreciated! The children would be so excited to have new equipment to play with and I know, Coach Barrett (P.E. teacher) would appreciate your generosity and contributing to Whitesburg Elementary.
Thank you,
Victoria
