I am writing you to express my concern over the wholesale changes in staff at KVUE in Austin. I question the current corporate practice of culling everyone over 55 no matter how many awards they have won replacing them with young reporters that are not ready for a market this large. I feel as if I am watching the news in Tyler at my Moms house. I also question pushing out Mark Murray. He was the lone lead weatherman that didnt try to scare you but actually guided all of us through many dangerous weather events. Im sure you will hire a youngster to replace him with a more demographically acceptable face that will work cheap. The problem is that the young adults dont watch local news. It is all done to make a little more money for that 90 day dividend Im sure. Before you push out all the 50 somethings maybe you take a long look in the mirror and ponder when the board will notice you arent 30 yourself. I guess I will see if you promote Albert Ramon to Chief of the weather department before I click you off in favor of another station but if you hire some pretty face instead of a qualified one then I will stop watching your news after being a loyal viewer for 4 decades. I watch no primetime shows on ABC so I wont need to pick up my remote at 6 and 10. Nearly every person I have talked to is upset with the dumbing down of local and national news. First radio was killed off by corporate takeovers and now local television stations are headed the same way.
