I bought a 2008 Heritage Softail classic 3 years ago with only 1800 miles on it.
I have rode it and loved it the whole time while being diligent with oil changes ect. I'm going on 48 years old, I've never beat my bike. I usually ride with my lovely wife on the back so... It now has 20 k on it. While riding last Sunday we noticed a strange vibration.
I took it to the shop and am being told that it's the counter balance bearings and may as well buy a whole new motor to the tune of $4000! I am still making payments on this bike and have no way of coming up with that kind of money.
I unfortunately found out my extended warranty that I purchased expired last year. When I mentioned that I couldn't believe that a Harley motor could just be shot after only 20k miles on it to the dealership mechanic I was told "Wel...they are man made!" Needless to say that didn't make me too happy. I hate to get rid of this bike as it is my first Harley and planned to hand it down to my kid. I was only able to get the down payment for this bike after my Mother passed and left me 5k as she didn't have much left after her cancer treatments. So I named this bike Sharon, after my Mom. I can't get rid of it! I can't afford to put a new motor in it. Please help if you can?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
