Rhonda sent a message to Ronald L. Sargent – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Staples, Inc. – Email Address that said:
I got my credit report today and was going over it to make sure nothing fraudulent was there. Unbeknownst to me, Staples had closed my premium status credit care account because of inactivity. I've been in Staples often but paid cash for reams of paper. When I saw "closed by guarantor", I immediately called CS and was informed that in the fine print, it states that it is a "Federal policy" that if the card remains inactive, they must close it. I called Experian back and they told me that "policy" isn't true but it is a discretionary decision by the guarantor. Imagine lying just to save face. I know that too many line of credit are bad for the score but to have a company close the account without proper explanation is terrible. I called twice to the CS and asked for a manager. They were all rude as if I'd asked to use their card. I even called to the Headquarters and spoke to a Selegne, who read the disclosure that said it could be reopened but then back peddled and said that there was nothing she would do. I asked for the corporate address, her name and your name. I did post to FaceBook my concerns buy was told nothing could be done. I was going to buy a L shaped desk for my home office from Staples but was waiting for the one in particular to go on sale. I lost my points, my platinum status and any incentives that I had to patronize Staples again. I am disappointed that I've had to go to such lengths to express my utter dissatisfaction but I had no other recourse.
Sincerely
Rhonda
