James sent a message to Robert Iger Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company Email Address that said:
I have just learned that your office has informed the state of Georgia that if the governor signs Georgia House bill 757, you will stop using Georgia for film shoots and otherwise boycott the state. I am not a resident of Georgia but of California but I have read the bill and it appears perfectly in keeping with US Supreme Court precedents on the First Amendment and other decisions relating to religious freedom. Or do you actually favor forcing pastors to perform and houses of worship to hold, same-sex weddings? I realize that this legislation is mostly to calm those who, for religious reasons, do not believe in same-sex marriage. And I thought that the constitution and the Supreme Court record on religious freedom cases was more than enough for me to regard such fears as unwarranted. But with your boycott threat and that of the other corporations following suit, I now have reason to believe that legislation such as House 757 may, in fact, be needed! And remember, the weapon of boycott is a two-edged sword.
