Robert sent a message to Lakshmi Mittal – Chairman and CEO, ArcelorMittal – Email Address that said:
I retired on disability from ArcelorMittal, Georgetown, SC, steel mill.
I was not notified prior to 7/1/2016 that my medical and prescription policies changed from BCBS and Catamaran to UHC and OptumRX. I was not notified prior to 7/1/2016 and until I telephoned UHC had not even received an ID card. The medications I had been taking prior to 7/1/2016 did not automatically roll over from Catamaran to OptumRX. I had been taking some of the medications for years.
I have had four back surgeries over the years. I cannot take any pain medications or muscle relaxants. I have found comfort and relief with Lidocaine patches and have been using them for several years. It took my surgeon to contact OptumRX to continue receiving them.
Now the problem is my Cialis. I have taken Flomax and was switched over to Cialis two years ago. This medication is due to a prostate problem and has worked. My doctor has said that the combination of other medications could cause my blood pressure to rise. My refills for Cialis were approved but for $45.00 for only eight pills. I take Cialis daily. Eight pills will not last but eight days! I am totally out and have been for two weeks. I cannot stay out of the bathroom!!! What gives OptumRX to put people’s lives at risk by not filling their prescriptions or listening to their doctors?
On Tuesday, 7/9/2016, my doctor faxed to OptumRX an appeal in order to receive 90 pills for 90 days, one pill per day for three months. I was told by two different people at OptumRX that the appeal had been approved. Whenever I telephoned this morning, I was told a decision had not been made. I asked “Esmarelda” to allow me to speak to a supervisor but was told by her that one was not available. I asked that she fax the rejection information to me. She said she would but I have not received it. I also asked that she fax the rejection and appeals information to my doctor. She said she would but they have not received it.
I have telephoned OptumRX on just about a daily basis attempting to get prescriptions filled or obtaining information on Prior Authorizations. OptumRX indicates forms can be obtained on their website concerning prior authorizations as well as that status of a PA and an Appeal but that is not the case.
I still do not know what the decision of the appeal on 7/9/2016 is! I cannot get a firm answer! Several people say the appeal has been approved, several people say the appeal has been denied!!! What is the problem????
OptumRX customer service is a joke and I am sick to death of being talked to like I’m dirt under someone’s feet.
If you research reviews online about UHC and OptumRX, you won't see too many positive ones. Also check the Better Business Bureau and see how many complaints there are.
Please contact me as soon as possible concerning this issue to advise me what I need to do.
