Josh sent a message to J. Paul Raines – Chief Executive Officer of GameStop Corporation – Email Address that said:

Dear Mr. J. Paul Raines,

I would first like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Josh and I am a sophomore at Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia. The reason I am writing to you today is to talk about the prices of games and the refunds your company gives for games. I mean no offense to you or your company by anything in this letter, but I do have a few ideas that I would like to propose that might benefit you or grab your attention.
I have heard many people complain that the amount of money received from returning a game is unfair. Rightfully so, GameStop gives a full refund before a certain point after buying the game; however, when it comes to the amount of money (or store credit) received from turning in a used game, that amount is very low, especially compared to the original price paid for a new game. The $10-15 ones gets is quite disappointing. Also, some prices for games after they have come out for a bit is a bit high, personally. Giving a small amount of money to people for certain games, I understand, but for other games that cost more, I feel it is antagonizing. I have returned some games that I had only bought a month beforehand and was quite disappointed at getting such a paltry sum for each game. Admittedly, I have gotten a bit more for a refund than expected on occasion, but more often than not I get much less than I expected. One idea I had that may make GameStop customers happy is for GameStop to give back half the purchase price for a certain time, say three or four months, after the date of purchase. But for each months after that, I believe the price should go down a few dollars, until it gets down to a low point of about $9 or so.
The price for games, is a little too expensive, especially for many teenagers. I do understand that the games need to be at such prices for the company to make a profit, but I’m saying that if the prices were lowered by even a small amount, more people would buy more games. I have talked to people about the fact that brand new games are $60 and the gold or expansions are $80 plus, and they have said that those prices are too high. If those prices were lowered by $10 or maybe even a little more, more people would buy the brand new games, because the prices were lower. The lowered prices would grab the attention of more people, which would interest them in buying more games.
I would once again like to remind you, I mean no offense in what I am saying. I enjoy your company and dp purchase games from there, but these were some concerns of mine that I just wanted to bring to your attention.

Sincerely,
Josh
