Vladimir sent a message to Carol Meyrowitz President and CEO, TJX Companies, Inc. – email address that said:
I would like to ask what protection TJXEurope provides for their British employees in regards to recent post BREXIT LEAVE hate crimes spike!
Widespread ethnic, xenophobic racial abuses are being reported and documented in the media and on various internet and mobile social platforms.
It include instances of foreign employees at other companies being welcomed with unwelcome signs and foreign restaurant workers being verbally abused by customers.
Since this situation is becoming widespread (including in near by Huntingdon), personally I would refuse serving any customer that would express ethnic hate and/or xenophobia towards myself - being an EU citizens living and working in this country for last 11 years.
Furthermore, I would expect a store manager or anyone in charge of that day trading hours to ask such customer to take their hateful customs elsewhere.
Therefore I am asking TJXEurope to clarify and reassure its very diverse workforce of their rights and protections in light of recent hate crimes spike and verbal xenophobic abuses.
I am hoping that all British based employees across all your platforms in the UK will be informed about their rights and protections (from hateful ethnic, xenophobic, racist, antisemitic and/or homophobic abuses) that they have as an TJXEurope employees.
Looking forward to your timely reply and further information about planned actions that TJXEurope in the UK will take in case that such unpleasant case would happen to any of its UK based employees.
Sincerely,
Vladimir
