Bongani Ndamase sent a message to Akio Toyoda President and CEO, Toyota Motor Corporation - email address that said:
I would like to find out if you are able to persuade your subsidiary in South Africa to set aside economic opportunities for Black people in rural areas of the Eastern Cape. According to the 2016 Institute of Race Relations (IRR) Comfort/Deprivation Index Alfred Nzo and OR Tambo District Municipalities are the poorest municipalities in South Africa with poverty levels of 90% and 89% respectively. My company has trained more than 600 young South African from poor households in these districts through the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) funded programme. Accordingly , I am convinced that if your South African subsidiary could set aside opportunities for these beneficiaries and others facing circumstances these South Africans would also enjoy the full menu of South Africas 1994 democratic breakthrough. I am willing to host your representatives at Mzintlava village in the Eastern Cape where the beneficiaries are located.
