Christopher Strawn sent a message to Rodney McMullen that said:

Dear Sir,
I just read the email sent out about how Kroger is going to eliminate hunger in our communities. It's a nice gesture but the availability of food is not the problem. Giving food away is borderline socialism. It's a tough place to put oneself in if you truly wish to be effective. So you give a family milk and other foods but what if why they don't have money for it is because mom and/or dad are spending $5/$7 dollars per pack of cigarettes or buying alcohol? There isn't enough vetting going on. If you really want to help make them work for it. I work for my food. If someone just gave it to me why work? I've been to Africa twice doing humanitarian work. Even though we set up free clinics they still would insist on paying. They believed they needed to pay something so we charged 10 Kenya Shillings. At that time the exchange rate was 70KS to 1USD. This kind of charity gives us a warm fuzzy feeling and Kroger's will show the world how great they are and probably win some kind of award but they will never see the damage they do. Please just give more thought into this and for heavens sake don't partner with Feeding America. Scam scam scam. They make a lot of money "doing good". I'm not one of those silly people that say I will never shop at Kroger again because I will. Bagging groceries at a Kroger's in Ohio was my first real job so I have a soft spot for them. Take care.
