Mr. McMullen:

As a long time customer with Kroger (40 yrs), I thought you may be interested in a customer's perspective.

Strong competition from Walmart, Sam's Club, and Target grocery tends to bring out the best decision making at the corporate level. Kroger has done a good job in customer service, but improvements on a continual basis is necessary. Productivity is essential.

One current problem standing out at Kroger is unit pricing and product discounts. I understand Kroger's weekly advertisements with pricing Wed. thru Tues. When I place an order online for next day pickup using the weekly circular, I expect the "paid-for" mdse. to be accurate (unless the mdse. not in-stock). I noticed ordering Tues. for Wed. pickup "may" cause a higher price charged for the same mdse. if Kroger's discounts are discontinued...even though the discounts are in effect Tuesday and "paid-for" Tues. Herein is the problem. Kroger's competitors honor the identical price paid online and do not increase the price by eliminating the discounts regardless of time picked- up or delivered. It appears Kroger does not. This problem impacts customer service and customer trust and Kroger's sales.
