Good afternoon Mr. Merlo. My name is Dr. Denise Hoell. I am a pediatric physical therapist and small therapy practice owner in the state of Georgia. I have also been a contracted provider with Aetna since 2008. I am hoping to solicit your assistance in a matter relating to Aetnaâs handling of telehealth claims for children with special needs in Georgia. I wished to handle this matter directly with Aetna, however, Aetna has refused to allow me to speak with a provider representative without first submitting a written request for assistance, to which they have 45 days to respond. This matter is pressing. I have two patients, a six-year-old little girl and a four-year-old little boy, both diagnosed with Down syndrome, for whom I have had to discontinue telehealth speech and occupational therapy services because of Aetnaâs unacceptable policies and claims management. I hope you can help.
