Tony sent a message to Jeffrey Storey that said:
Hello,
It is wonderful to hear Century Link in the news with the CCDC and other technology and ventures.
It is also wonderful to be a shareholder of Century Link stock.
It is not wonderful that Century Link will not address the problems of it's customers, customer service or awful internet service in rural areas.
Social media pages for Century Link is full of complaints. Century Links own page gives customers a scripted "we're sorry, call us".
I have been trying to get better internet for many many years.
I live in Lawrenceburg Indiana, Dearborn County. My home is on a small dead end road with 9 homes. You could consider us a rural area. But for us, internet options are few, Century Link or satellite, while others have a multiple options and they are frequently a street away.
It is simple, Century Link does not want to improve internet in our area. They feel that the customer should be happy with with less than 3 mbps download and .5 mbps upload. I know, it's blazing fast. We are stuck with DSL because Century Link will not upgrade equipment. I pay a increasing premium every month for subpar service.
It was encouraging that the Federal Government offered to improve internet in rural areas with the CAF program. Century Link jumped on that. When I looked at the map, my home is in the area!!! I tried talking to Century Link as to when this improvement will happen. The response was maybe 6 years IF, "IF" they do it. It was more or less put that they will not bother.
While Century Link works on the more profitable business solutions, it doesn't really give a damn about it's residential and rural residential customers...we're not worth the expense even though we pay top dollar for internet that a snail can out run.
Many are dumping the landline and using their cell phones. Century Link is going to force me to do the same.
Dearborn County is growing, and is served my several other providers. A lot of us are trying to get those providers to expand to us.
Century Link, will you do something to help us? If not, please leave the area and let someone else cover us, like Cincinnati Bell.
