Mr. Lundgren,
I was just in your retail store in Horton Plaza in downtown San Diego about 5:00 PM today October 14, 2015. While trying to make a purchase at the terminal I realized there is a serious problem at the retail terminal. I must have made at least a few hundred purchases at this store over the last 6 years using a Chase card. The new card of course has a chip on it and your terminal appeared to be have been either hacked or is vulnerable to a hack.

I would never use a PIN on a retail terminal in today\'s world. But this terminal would not let me complete the purchase without the PIN. And it looked like the whole set-up was either hacked or some very poorly written code to force that PIN. I obviously am just a customer and don\'t know the problems with your retail point of sale system. I had made a purchase downstairs at the same store on Friday the 9th of this month with out a problem using the identical Chase card.

The sales associate at this department was about the most unhelpful self absorbed jerk I have yet to deal. Normally I would avoid that clerk, but he was the only one around. After a long wait he called his boss who was much nicer but not very helpful. On this past Friday my experience was the exact opposite with the woman who works in the upstairs luggage department. Along with the sales clerk in the downstairs you men\'s department.

What bothers me most today was not the unfriendliness of the sales clerk but his attitude of not really caring about the problem concerning the point of sale terminal. It was as if he or is boss could care less.

I\'m far from an idiot have spent over 35 years in the software and information tech industry. I saw what could be a vulnerable or even hacked system which did not exist on the shopping visit just a few days prior. I saw little or no attention from the sales clerks to this problem. They are in essence the first line of defense to these problems which I think you are very aware. I felt obligate to tell this directly to you.

Respectfully,
Phillip Franklin
