@Mastercard – Ajaypal Singh Banga – I don?t know if you can help but it?s worth a try. I have used

Vivienne Wright sent a message to Ajaypal Singh Banga that said:

I don’t know if you can help but it’s worth a try. I have used a chip and signature card since the changeover to chip and pin, because of disability. Both my bank and credit cards are MasterCards.
In November 2019 Sainsbury’s Supermarket changed the way in which they accepted chip and sign cards. A message now appears on the screen of the card reader instructing the user to press the green key to continue. Until then my card had been accepted and I signed for my purchases. But here’s the problem, with the new system I can’t see a message on the screen because I have sight problems, I can’t see the green button and as I have severe arthritis in my fingers I couldn’t press the green button if I could see it. Sainsbury’s say it is a new system which will be introduced in all shops etc in the near future and the cashier will press the green button for me. I don’t accept that someone else can authorise my transaction and have accused Sainsbury’s of discriminating against me as a disabled person. I am know working with a solicitor from RNIB in London, who will be contacting UK Finance, the organisation that oversaw the chip and signature replacement for their advice.
I would appreciate your advice, as obviously this involves Mastercard.
Many thanks.
