May 25, 2015 Dear Mr Yanagi, I come to you with an issue that no one – Hiroyuki Yanagi email address

Michael sent a message to Hiroyuki Yanagi President and Representative Director, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. that said:

May 25, 2015

Dear Mr Yanagi,

I come to you with an issue that no one has been able to resolve. I am the owner of a Super Tenere that has been in the shop for 122 days for random stalling and high RPM engine speeds. I am being told that it is an emission related issue, yet 4 months later it is still in the shop for the same symptoms.

I have talked to your customer care almost on a weekly basis, always promised a call back. Until I engaged an attorney and had a letter sent, I never received a return call (Customer Service Rep’s name is Sean). I finally received a call on Thursday with no resolution. Other customer service reps I have talked at your Corporate Customer Care look at my records and tell me how Yamaha corporate is engaged with the dealer and how managers and techs are going out to see my bike (months ago). A district rep did finally show up last week, and said that he had never been contacted by corporate. I am also always promised that Sean will call me back. I sure you can listen to the recorded conversations.

The shop, Apache Motorcycles in Scottsdale, AZ, has been reaching out for month. They thought it was fixed many time, but it always broke down on them again (I ask them to test it for a few days before I will pick it up).

I was told over a month ago that they were going to replace the wiring harness. Yet each week when I called I was told something else was being tried first. A new wiring harness has been ordered for replacement and will be air-freighted in this week. When I asked the service manager if that will fix it, I am told they have changed everything else, but they really don’t know. So, there has been no solid diagnosis.

Now another pressing issue: I purchased this Super Tenere for one purpose, a 9000+ mile ride from Arizona to the Arctic Circle, and back down along the western seaboard. This trip will be part of a documentary about adventure bikes and brotherhood. A film director from Hollywood will be recording the events of the excursion. We are now just a few weeks away, and I dont have the motorcycle back. In fact, the dealership cannot even promise the integrity of the motorcycle. The service manager agrees that this motorcycle could be dangerous, suddenly accelerating or stalling at the wrong time. He doesn’t know if the wiring harness will fix it. Your customer service rep, Sean, blames the problem with the motorcycle on poor workmanship and said it is my responsibility to instill the promise of integrity on the service manager. This doesn’t help if I am injured or worse.

I am asking for your help to resolve this. I have a lot of money wrapped up in the motorcycle, and the last thing I want is to have an accident as the result of mechanical failure -- especially when we know that is a strong possibility. I am requesting a replacement motorcycle of equal or grater value prior to leaving on my trip (hopefully we can conclude this by week of June 1, 2015).
The phone number for Apache Motorcycles in Scottsdale is  My attorney's name is Bryan

Thanks you for both your time and consideration,

Michael
