Michael sent a message to Marvin R. Ellison – President of J. C. Penney Company Inc.- email address that said:
Mr Ellison.
First I want to thank you for saving this fine American retail company, and wish you continued success. I will get right to the point. I have nearly 40 years in the appliance service and repair business. It is my understanding that JCPenny is getting into the sales of Major Appliances. A suggestion or two have to do with not only sales but the backing up of the sale with impeccable service. There is an untapped market in independent appliance service companies. Sears who once was all about service is failing miserably and I frankly think they don't care.
People who have Major Appliances under a manufacturers warranty today are waiting days for service and longer for actual repairs to be completed. I believe that if you can provide the service you can hit the rest of them hard because they could not compete. Service is a lost art in this country. Bring back dependable service and you bring back a national treasure. I myself remember when JCPenny had there own name on Major Appliances in the early part of the 1980's. They were built by GE. People loved them as well as the retailer that sold them. Please be careful on what is going to be sold in your stores. There are many brands that are just terrible, and could cause more trouble than they are worth. Again I wish you nothing but continued success, and if you or your representative should have any questions, I will be happy to give you any information to help you with this venture.
All the best,
Michael .
