Mr. House,
As a long time PlayStation fan I was extremely disappointed to hear that the PS4 Pro will not support Ultra HD Blu-ray disks.
You made a point in your demonstration that the PS4 Pro will support 4K HDR streaming from Netflix and YouTube forgetting that anyone who has a 4K HDR set already has that capability with the onboard apps on the TV so there is no value added there.
Besides, 4K streaming doesn't hold a candle to Ultra HD Blu-rays, the difference is remarkable, as I'm sure you know. Add to the fact that many people have bandwidth caps and consistent 4K streaming is just not feasible for many at the moment and the only way to truly experience 4K HDR is with Ultra HD Blu-ray.
Was this functionality omitted to keep costs down? To not cannibalize your own company's upcoming player sales? This omission makes no sense in light of the demonstration being all about 4K and HDR and how awesome those technologies are.
I was anticipating this for a while, with the Neo rumors and all that, and had planned on getting two to replace my current PS4s. Now I will be purchasing XBox One S units and just keeping my regular PS4s.
I feel this is an incredible misstep and missed opportunity on your companys part.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Tom
