Mr. Hudson,
Congratulations on your success in growing Sonic to new heights during your tenure as C.E.O. I am a brand new hire as a Manager at one of your stores and am very excited about the opportunity. My reason for emailing you today is to ask why your franchise operators are limited to their choices in Point of Sale Software? I have not been trained on your old system of yet, but immediately I can sense it being a major bottleneck. As I understand it there are 3 choices in Point of Sale each with their advantages and drawbacks. I personally have used and programmed Micros systems and do not much care for them.
As a former restaurant owner myself I fully understand the need for consistency and the benefits of data acquisition. However when it comes at the expense of guest experience that is a trade off that I do not understand.
I am aware that there may be issues beyond my understanding, but I would offer my thoughts and you can take it for whatever it is worth. Come up with a minimal list of criteria that a POS MUST be able to accommodate and if the operator can make that happen you have 3500+ guinea pigs to find what works best. After working as an IT specialist programming dozens of systems and in the hospitality industry at all levels up to GM/Co-Owner my personal preference is Future POS but to each their own.
