Richard sent a message to Kelly S. King – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BBT Corporation – Email Address that said:
Mr. King I'm sure you are aware that our East Carolina University is seeking admission to the Big 12 Conference. I'm also certain that you know this move would greatly enhance both the University's economic well being as well as Eastern NC. You have accomplished much and are well respected nationally as the leader of BBT. BBT is well respected especially in NC and Texas. As you know the state of Texas is home to the majority of the schools that make up the Big 12. I would personally urge you to leverage your position in any manner possible to help our great university accomplish its goal of becoming a member of the Big 12. I look forward to seeing your actions to help make this happen.
Respectfully,
Richard
