Linda L. Griffin sent a message to Rodney McMullen Chief Executive Officer of The Kroger Co. email address that said:
Mr. McMullen..My daughter was walking to her car in the Kroger parking lot in Longview, Texas. A man followed her to her car, snatched her purse from her cart...but she grabbed it and they engaged in a push/pull activity. She then screamed and ran. A young woman jumped out of her car and began to scream as well. The man, almost 6 ft tall fled. Someone reported it and a female employee came out to check on this incident. No 911 cal..no police..no taking down information. My daughter and the young woman eventually left. There was no phone call to my daughter concerning this and no police report was filed by Kroger. A friend then inquired to the manager concerning this..his reply was simply "it is corporate police etc...blah blah..I am asking for you to make an inquiry into this. My daughter could have been killed/shot/knifed or harmed. Another friend reported an incident to the manager with no reply. There were multiple people in the parking lot as it was Valentines Day and a tent was there for people to purchase flowers. My daughter is a Texas Aggie...a certified CPA..very tall and beautiful but she made a mistake by putting her purse on top of her purchases..the man made his move..another young woman witnessed this from her car and sprung into action..screaming for help for my daughter as the man seemed to not be backing down...this is not just one incident from your parking lot not addressed nor reported to the local police. I am still very anxious concerning this incident. My daughter could have lost her life in that parking lot with no officer nor security guard....present on the premises of your Kroger in Longview, Texas. My cell is 902 714 0031..On another note..your baked chicken is excellent and that was her purchase for our Valentines night dinner at my house..which by then we were all too upset to enjoy it ! I am certain you will check into this incident and update your policies regarding safety in your parking lots and advise your local managers to hire security guards. Sincerely, Linda Griffin (retired school counselor)
