Mr. Menear My name is Jim and I am writing on behalf of my elderly – Craig Menear email address

Jim sent a message to Craig Menear – Chairman, CEO and President of The Home Depot email address that said:

Mr. Menear-

My name is Jim and I am writing on behalf of my elderly parents (my father is 80 years old and is in a wheelchair due to a massive stroke 8 years ago).

In May 2015, my parents paid Home Depot >$40,000 to replace all of their glass doors and windows.

Since initiating a warranty claim to address a scratched window and broken screen door more than 1 year ago, my parents have still not had their issues resolved despite numerous phone calls, messages and texts to Home Depot.

I have a detailed log of my phone calls, text messages and meetings with Home Depot should you have interest in fully understanding how Home Depot has failed my parents. My parents have reached the point of exhaustion and have asked for a refund to which Home Depot has not responded.

After more than 1 year of effort, my parents reached their tipping point and I informed Home Depot’s installation manager that we had contacted the Consumer Investigation departments at ABC, CBS and NBC to discuss how Home Depot had treated an elderly, handicapped couple who entrusted them with a $40,000+ project. Upon hearing this, Home Depot threatened to stop working with us and said that we would have to deal with Home Depot’s legal department. I am not aware of any condition that voids my parent’s warranty if they speak with a news reporter. This threat tactic is unethical at a minimum and potentially illegal.

In my last text exchange with Home Depot 2 days ago, I was told that I would receive a status update yesterday. As of today, I have not received a response. And after 1 year of this type of treatment, I have no expectation that I will receive a response until and unless I pursue Home Depot’s installation manager.

As a long-time customer who has spent thousands of dollars at Home Depot, I am appalled at how Home Depot has treated my elderly parents after taking more than $40,000 of their money.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me

Jim
