Gary sent a message to James E. Meyer CEO, Sirius XM Radio Inc. – email address that said:
Mr. Meyer,
I am hesitant to have to involve you in this simple matter, however, I am receiving no satisfaction from your Customer Care department.
Please review our email exchanges below concerning my defective radio and LIFETIME subscription issue.
All I desire is to transfer my paid LIFETIME subscription to a replacement radio in my auto.
I have driven over 124,000 miles on my 2010 Jetta and on my many long trips I exclusively listen to your stations, specifically the Symphony Hall channel and CNN new.
I would be very appreciative of your assistance in this matter.
Very respectfully,
Gary

Rowena,
I'm sorry, but your answer to my issue is not good enough.
My radio is clearly defective, as it has quit working and I am replacing it with a similar model number.
As you stated in your reply, on 5/14/10 I entered into a contract with your organization and paid in full for a LIFETIME subscription. I specifically asked, then, if it was for the life of my auto, seeing as how I thought the radio would last through the life of the car. I was told YES.
I merely wish to continue my paid LIFETIME subscription as contracted.
Gary
Response To Your Inquiry (SiriusXM Customer Care) 08/24/2016 02:37 AM
Dear Mr. Wogan,
Thank you for contacting SiriusXM regarding Lifetime Plan transfer.
Please be advised that the Lifetime Plan was purchased last 5/14/10 which makes it non-transferable.
The transferability of a Lifetime Subscription will depend upon whether it is associated with a home, portable, or dock play receiver, or whether it is associated with a receiver installed by an automaker or an automotive dealer. “Non-Automotive Receivers”: A Lifetime Subscription associated with a home, portable, or dock play receiver is transferable from one such receiver to another up to a maximum of three (3) times. For each permitted transfer of a subscription from one Non-Automotive Receiver to another, you will be charged a Transfer Fee set forth in this Agreement. “Automotive Receivers”: A Lifetime Subscription is not transferable if it is first associated with, or subsequently transferred to, a receiver installed in a vehicle by an automaker or an automotive dealer, except in the event the original receiver associated with that Lifetime Subscription is stolen, accidentally damaged or if, in our sole discretion, it is defective. For each permitted transfer from one Automotive Receiver to another, you will be charged a Transfer Fee set forth in this Agreement. No Transfer Fee will be charged for the transfer of a Lifetime Subscription associated with an Automotive Receiver if, in our sole discretion, the receiver is defective.

Customer Inquiry 08/22/2016 11:19 AM
I purchased my 2010 VW Jetta in 2009 and paid LIFETIME for satellite service and was told that it would end when I no longer had the car.
Well, I just called your 866 customer care number because my radio quit and I need to replace it -- into my 2010 VW Jetta. I asked if the service would transfer to a new radio -- seeing as I had paid LIFETIME for your service. I was told NO.
So, I ask you, hypothetically, if I get a new car and your satellite service for LIFETIME and my car is totaled soon after buying it then am I led to believe that my LIFETIME payment is gone?
I would like to very much transfer my PAID LIFETIME service to a new radio to be installed into my still owned 2010 VW Jetta.
Thank you.
From your website: Lifetime subscriptions first associated with or transferred to radios installed in vehicles by automakers or dealers are NOT transferable unless the radio is stolen, accidentally damaged or defective. DEFECTIVE, as in no longer working!!!
