George sent a message to Michael J. Jackson – Chief Executive Officer of AutoNation Inc. – Email Address that said:
Mr. Mike Jackson,
My name is George . I am currently a full time student at Arizona State University working on a Bachelors degree in Communication. My hope is that I will be accepted to the PhD Communication program for the fall of 2018. I currently work as a marketing director for America's Security, a top 10 dealership for the ADT Corporation. I do most of my work with this company in the summer, since I am in school most of the time during the school year.
The reason for this email is because my 2013 Toyota Camry SE (which I purchased from one of your dealerships in Tempe, Arizona) has undergone an engine block replacement. The reason for the replacement was because it was driven on an overheated engine that stemmed from the radiator failing to cool the engine.
In March, after returning from work in Los Angeles, my vehicle was repossessed. I needed to miss a couple of payments due to my needing to cover my student rent and actually have food to eat. Unfortunately, the tow driver from Recovery Management Services in Phoenix jammed his tow boom right through the lower bumper and damaged the radiator and AC cooling/heating condenser. When I retrieved my vehicle from the repo yard, I noticed the damage on the Vehicle. It was running perfectly fine until I was halfway home on the freeway; that's when I started to notice something might be wrong with the vehicles engine. I had no choice but to drive it down to the AutoNation Collision center to have an estimate done on the vehicle. The company that damaged my vehicle covered the damage for the bumper, radiator, and cooling/heating condenser, which has since been repaired.
The same day the repairs on these parts were done, AutoNation Collision found some engine problems on startup. It wasn't turning over and exhaust was coming out of the engine. They took it to the dealership down the street to have a mechanic look at it. Upon diagnosis they found the head gasket to be damaged as well as severe warping in the engine block that warranted a replacement of the block alone. The total cost of the engine block replacement is $6151.59. It was originally at $6781.00, however Arleyne Bishop, the service director at this AutoNation location was able to give me a 10 percent discount to help out a little. I was hoping I could have my vehicle to do what I need to do to earn the amount I need to pay, however, I am unable to take my car from the location because I have yet to pay the full amount on the repaired engine damage. I had the repairs done at this location because I only trust the dealer for major repairs such as this. Now, the release papers on the original damage caused by the tow company was already signed. Because of this it will be hard for me to convince RMS to cover this unless I try taking them to court. I asked Arleyne Bishop if there was anyone higher I could talk to regarding this issue, to allow me to take the vehicle and she said she is the higher up. Is there any way you can help me out on this issue? I just want to take my vehicle so I can work the way I need to, in order to pay the amount that AutoNation Toyota in Tempe, Arizona, is requesting for the job they have done. I'm filing a lawsuit against the company that did this to my car, which was the prattle for the latter damage. Thank you very much. Please contact me if you have any questions. It is my hope that this request may be fulfilled so I can meet my summer goals for work in preparation for the following school semester.
Best,
- George
