Dennis sent a message to Christopher J. Nassetta – President and Chief Executive Officer of Hilton Worldwide – Email Address that said:
Mr. Nassetta,
I experienced a problem at the Waldorf Beijing I believe you need to be aware of. I exchanged $300.00 (1900 yuan) at the front desk and was given 19 100 yuan counterfeit bills. The money never left my possession. When I tried to return it the hotel refused, with the manager Alan Stocker saying they reviewed the videos of me exchanging the money. The front desk girl ran it through a money counter which detects counterfeits, he claims. The counterfeits the Waldorf gave me I was basically told are my responsibility.
It's not about the money. I stayed in a Suite, flew my family of 5 first class. My neighbor in my old building was Oprah. I currently own a penthouse at Trump Tower. I own many cars, and my daily driver is a Flying Spur. I know what to expect.
The fact that this could so blatantly and easily happen at a place like the Waldorf Beijing is shocking to me. My regular hotels are places like the St Regis NYC, Peninsula Beverly Hills, etc. I wouldn't have expected this at a motel 6.
I have relatives who own major luxury hotels and hotel chains. In fact my rooms at the Waldorf Shanghai and Beijing last week were booked by one of them (I know Shanghai for sure, my wife may have booked Beijing). Check my records.
I'm still shocked by what happened in Beijing. I'm more shocked by your manager Alan Stocker's lack of a answer. I'm not asking for the money back, I'm asking for a explanation of how this theft occurred. Not a lot of money, but scary and shocking how it happened. I checked into a Waldorf, got robbed by the front desk, and found the hotel was rigged against me.
