Evan sent a message to Arne M. Sorenson – President and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, Inc. – Email Address that said:
Mr. Sorenson:
My name is Evan and I am a Marriott Platinum Elite member . Additionally, I am a holder of a Chase Marriott Rewards Visa card I hold with my wife, Alison Roth Marshall. Because of that relationship, from time to time, Chase and Marriott graciously extend me free hotel night certificates. Recently, I booked a hotel room for my wife to stay in the Courtyard Glassboro Rowan University on September 7, 2016, while she helps her brother move. It is a trip I cannot make. It was only after the reservation was made that Marriott informed me that I alone can claim that certificate upon check in. I reached out to someone on your Platinum Elite service desk about this matter and was informed that because the certificate was issued by Chase, that is a rule established by Chase, thus, they cannot circumvent that rule. I spoke to a representative at Chase about this matter who first told me that this was a matter for Marriott and basically said he cannot do anything to assist me.
I am sure you can understand my frustration being shuttled back and forth between two companies to which I have been loyal when my request is neither extravagant nor without merit. All I am requesting is that Marriott or Chase make an exception to whoever's rule and allow my wife to use this certificate. I figure if one person can grant this exception, it is you.
The Marriott reservation in question. I would appreciate you granting this request to a loyal Marriott Platinum Elite member with more than 500 lifetime night stays at your properties. I am available to discuss this matter and can be reached via cell phone(202) or via email,
I thank you for your time. I realize you very busy so I appreciate you taking the time to read this request. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Evan
