Hello,
I have a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup, my first pick up that I have waited so long to get. Recently I came home and my wife said what is that white stuff on the ground? It was large pieces of paint from the roof of my truck. Some were as big as my palm. I took it to two paint shops for estimates and both guys first words where, "Look at that primer it is like glass, it was not scuffed up before it was painted." I have had several Chevrolet cars, minivan and Suburban over the last 30 years and have been very happy with them. I take good care of my vehicles by hand washing, I don't use power washers. So I not happy with this paint job. While I was there I had them look at the rocker panels under the door because they are rusting now. The paint shop guy told me that they do these a lot on these trucks. Why is the design so that they rust out here? I am going with the cheaper bid and I know the shop owner son and will be spending $400 on the roof and $1,100 on the two rocker panels. I have been thinking of upgrading to a 1 year old GMC Sierra but am concerned that these issues on another GMC. I have pictures that I can send so you can see how the paint on the roof looks, it is about 1 foot wide by 2 foot long area that is gone. What can I expect from GMC to help keep me as loyal customer?
