Susan Simmons on behalf of Roger H Perry sent a message to William H. Rogers, Jr. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Banks Email Address that said:
My father and I have been trying for months to close his Suntrust account. There are probably 50 or more recorded calls regarding this starting in June. I have POA for him and have been managing finances since July. I moved my parents to New York state from Florida in July 2016. My father had a stroke at that time. My mother passed away in Feb 2016. She was 89 and he is currently 92.
Starting in March there have been multiple fraudulent transactions on the account. We have needed to call together to report them. Different employees give different information about the use of the POA. I sent the Florida POA paperwork, then we hired an attorney in New York to draw up a New York POA which I also sent.
Now, finally the line of credit account has been closed. I was told a different number to fax the POA to and the person said they would be able to talk with me to take care of things.
Tonight, the first person on the line said my name was now on the account. It was just added today.
For months we have been told that we need to come into a branch office so my name could be added to the account. There is no possibility of us coming into a branch, especially just to sign a card.
Like I said earlier, my dad is 92. He lost his wife in Feb., had a stroke July 2016, has been in and out of the hospital and rehab twice since July 2017 and is now residing in enhanced assisted living. He has not had or used his line of credit at all. He doesnt have access to the internet and can barely dial a phone with assistance. He doesnt have a check book or credit card.
I just got a statement from the line of credit visa card. It says it is closed, so , thank goodness no more fraudulent activity will be taking place. However, we just want to get this all taken care of and totally close the account with Suntrust.
All activity on the card after 9/17/17 that has not been recorded as fraud is fraud. My father doesnt owe anything.
I am hopeful that you will be able to help in this matter.
Thank you so much
