Andrew Haynie sent a message to Doug McMillon - President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart Stores, Inc. - Email Address that said:
My fiance and her mom went into the store in Royse City, TX today (6/22) around 12:30pm to buy a GoPro Hero 5 Session. Online it showed that several were in stock and ready to be picked up. When they got to the electronics department, they were flat out ignored by the associates who were in the middle of a very important conversation between the two of them - complaining that there should be ANOTHER associate on the floor. When they finally decided to see what in the world someone could actually need a customer service associate for, he very rudely told my fiance that they didnt have any in the back, but Ive got them locked up.
Its important to note that it was not a joking tone - this was a hostile go away and bother someone else tone of voice. When directly asked if he could get specifically the GoPro Hero 5 Session (not the regular Hero 5, as it is a $200 difference between the two), he came back with the Hero 5. He claimed that it was all they had, and the computer was useless, and that online was lying. Only when she told him that she would go ask a manager to look did he finally go look more thoroughly - lo and behold there were SEVERAL of the units on the bottom shelf.
I spent 6 years working in Sams Club 4906 in McKinney, TX. When I left, I became first a sales manager and now a general manager for another company. I know what is and is not acceptable behavior for an associate - and this was terrible. I will be complaining in-store as well to the general manager, but I want to make sure that this experience is not simply brushed to the side. If this man was interacting with my customers on a daily basis, I would want to know so I could fix the problem. The fact that this behavior is accepted is nothing short of embarrassing - especially in an area with so many other options a short drive away.
The associate in question is a man with gray hair and a pony-tail working in the electronics area. I wish I had a name to provide, but he didnt even have his name badge out/displayed.
