Ellen sent a message to Craig Menear Chairman, CEO and President of The Home Depot email address that said:
My name is Ellen, a loyal customer of your home improvement store for many years, On a recent visit, I was showered by wood dust from a vertical saw in your lumber department in your N. Miami Beach store here in Florida. I have Asthma and subsequently became very ill and are still ill. Your local Home Depot Team was of no help when I went back days later, out of a sick bed, to make a report. The Manager was not in and the asst. manager Lotoya did not avail herself to me to make the report. I had to leave and eventually got through to a Manny Hernandez who took the report but was not a nice individual to deal with. The incident happened on March 10th and only today did I speak to a wonderful staff person, Rikki, in your corporate office in GA and a nice young man Cory from Sedgway Insurance. Everyone else I talked to was nasty and defensive from the store level on up. I was trying to offer some suggestions so that the same thing that happened to me doesn't happen to someone else. As a manager by profession, I appreciate when someone takes the time to offer constructive criticism. I guess that didn't go over well with your N. Miami Beach store staff. I ended up calling OSHA to get the specifics on overall air quality in your store and vacuum systems on table and vertical saws. Rikki was so kind and said she would relay my message to the Regional Manager.
