Hello Mr. Polk.

I received a survey to rate my recent experience with Dymo technical support, and I thought you might be interested in what I wrote there.

So here is what I wrote in the survey:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I discovered that starting with version 8.71 of your labeler software, then your installation package installs components of Microsoft Access 2007 ("Microsoft Access Database Engine" AKA "ACE"). This can cause severe problems for your customers who have apps that were written for, the more recent, MS Access 2010, 2013 or 2016. People who already have MS Access installed on their computer, don't need ANY version of ACE. They already have the components that your software needs. Your software replaces the registration (in the registry) of some access 2010,2013,2016 components with 2007 versions of these components.
Your customer's apps might stop working properly, or crash; and they won't know that it was caused by your product. I contacted tech. support to get a method of installing your Labeler software without ACE.

Even though I did EVENTUALLY get the right answer, it took me multiple communications with tech support to get that answer. Until that point, each and every response that I got was factually wrong. Even the final correct response included a factually wrong response. I am glad that I finally got my issue resolved, but many of your customers might have something "break" on their computer, as a result of your poorly designed installation package.

I encourage you to read the entire email thread for tech support case 17202413

P.S. Your installation package SAYS that it will install the later version of ACE (in my case it SAID it would install version 2013) but it actually installs version 2007

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sincerely
Ron R
