One of my promises to my son Derrick was a college education. I was willing to do whatever necessary. I didn't want him to have a lot in student loans. Derrick attended Pasadena Community College then was accepted to Concordia University, Irvine, CA. I couldn't afford for him to live on campus. I did'nt have great credit, so I leased a 2012 Kia Optima for Derrick
to drive to school. I took the bus 3 hours to work and 3 hours back. On May 2, 2015 Derrick graduated from Concordia University College. The first in the family to graduate college, I'm soooooo proud of him.
A few months later Derrick came home and handed me keys to a 2012 Kia Rio. I asked if it was a rental, he said, no its yours. I was in tears!! I asked him why? He said he's knows the sacrifices I had to make and it hurt him knowing I rode the bus 3 hours to work, worked 8 hours then rode the bus 3 hours back home all for him to have an education. I found out he received a refund from the college and used it for a down payment on the car. I'm proud to be Derrick's mother. I feel so guilty because that money should have gone towards his student loans.
I would love to give back to my son. The lease is up in April 2016 and it is over the mileage from Derrick driving to school and my credit isn't the best. Is there any help or assistance or
programs you can offer? Any information you have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
