Andrew Kanyako sent a message to John Gibson that said:
I am a Sierra Leonean, 37 years old, marriage with two children both girls - Andrea and Lucy 9 and 7 years respectively. I lost my job as an Account Officer in a non-governmental organization last October as a result of project closure. I am yet to secure a job and what worsen the situation is as a result of the Ebola Viral Disease. During the epidemic, I lost my Father, Step-mother and younger and beloved sister. What helped me was because we were not residing together. They contacted the disease when my late sister was admitted in hospital and my mother was obliged to stay with her to render assistance and care. They were eventually discharged not knowing that my mother had contracted the virus, as a result of using the public hospital toilet not well taken care of. At home she had frequent stool, vomiting and high temperature which are all signs and symptoms of the sickness. Before it was realized she had been rubbing skin and doing her normal chores before the rescue team was contacted. 911 was the hotline created to attend to symptomatic cases like hers. She was taken to the hospital (holding Centre) and her swab was taken which proves positive. She eventually died and the house was quarantine and my dad and younger sister fall ill. They were also taken to a treatment Centre but we lost them both (3 in all).
Quite recently, our capital city Freetown was hit by a flooding and I was greatly affected. I had initially enrolled for an online undergraduate course at Atlantic International University (AIU). I had my properties damaged due to the flooding, household furniture, clothing, cooking utensil, academic books, equipment ( including my personal laptop for the online course) were all damaged not only mine but that of my entire household. It is as a result of my present predicament that I am finding life really difficult. I want to capacitate myself academically and at the same time my two kids (daughters) are going to school who were also badly affected hence traumatized.
I am soliciting financial support to enable me acquire my dreams in living a decent life and be a responsible dad to my children and a loving and caring husband to my wife, by giving them a befitting future. I have identified a small scale business which I intend embarking on with a profit margin of about 15% per month on the investment. My tuition fee at AIU is $7,500 and about 40% have been met (see attached), I am behind schedule as a result of my present situation. I do not know where to start as even my personal laptop was flush with water. I want you to take me as your own son and help me realize my dream and that of my family.
I anticipate your positive response and looking forward to hearing from you soonest in order to alley my fears and worries. Thanks for you anticipated understanding and May the good Lord richly bless you and in all your undertakings. In tears, as my family send their regards even though we have not known each other. Once more thank you for your anticipated support. I can be contacted through these numbers +232 77790066 / +232 78341019, and through this email address above.
Yours Faithfully
