Partnership Proposal to save Via dell'Amore (Love's Pathway)
Good morning,
My name is Marco and I am Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Riomaggiore, (La Spezia - Italy).
I am sorry to bother you but I wanted to focus your attention on a project that we believe is important and that would bring a lot of visibility to the partners involved.
In recent years the Cinque Terre have turned into an international tourist destination known all around the world and each year hundreds of thousands of tourists travel to Italy to visit these five villages suspended between sky and sea.
The most famous path of all is certainly the one that connects the two villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola: the so called “Via dell’Amore” (Love’s Pathway).
One kilometer of road that man's hands have cleverly carved in rocks creating a pedestrian path overlooking the sea and offering breathtaking and unforgettable views. Unfortunately, for many years this trail has been closed to the public following a landslide occurred in September 2012 that accident has deeply affected its security.
Via dell’Amore is located in the Municipality of Riomaggiore and the main goal of the inhabitants and the actual city administration is to be able to finally reopen it.
The Municipality of Riomaggiore is actively working on this project, our aim is to make this path, declared National Monument and UNESCO Heritage Site, usable again by everyone.
We want our Pathway to be not only a symbol of Italy in the world, but also a symbol of how we can take care of an extremely fragile and delicate territory, in a constructive and productive way for the people who live here as well as for those who wish to visit it.
To carry out this ambitious project, we, as Town Council members, request your cooperation because we believe that associating your name to it, can be a source of opportunities for both.
Waiting for a kind reply I am available for any explanation or information.
Best regards
Marco
