Mr. Massey, from the Web research I have performed it appears you are the CEO of Petsmart. I love walking through your stores because they generally are filled with happy things like visiting pets, pet toys and visiting groups who may be interested in finding homes for needy pets. Today, I was in the Martinsburg, WV store wanting to purchase tropical fish. I am one of those people who have had a fish tank for most of my life, well over 50 years. Not the same tank of course. I have bought fish there many times. Anyway, I was embarrassed and felt as though I was being scolded by a sales associate who refused to sell me more than six very inexpensive tropical fish. I only wanted 3 more for a total of 9. She told me it was a company policy that she could only sell me 6 or less. That was it! No discussion! If I wanted more I had to come back tomorrow. I did not see any signs or notices to support that statement. I later called customer service and talked to a representative who also could not find any such specific policy but did say store managers had discretion. I guess I can understand if there was a desire on your companyâs part to help a novice or newly interested person not buy too many fish knowing too many fish might not survive. But, I am a very experienced person with a large fish tank. I would never put fish in a distressful situation. There was no effort on the associateâs part to make any meaningful inquiry as to why I was questioning her. What appears to be so silly and very difficult for me to understand is if I were not alone I could have had another person buy the other three fish for me. I felt for some reason I was being mistreated for no good reason. Forgot to mentionâ¦. When I asked her if I could talk to her manager, she said she was the manager and when another store associate came by she turned her back on me and walked away.
