I own a 2011 Tundra Limited- it currently has 65,000 miles on it . Last week I was in Duluth MN about 100 miles from my home when I lost power to approx. 30 miles an hour while switching lanes the lane I was turning had a car behind me I thought that I was going to be rear ended. I was able to turn around and limp my way back to Kolar Toyota it was closing time and only one person was there - he stayed over to reset the engine light and I was able to make it home without further problems- the person that did the check said the code was for air pump I made an appointment to drive back to Duluth on Monday which was yesterday when I made the appointment I was told that it probably would be covered - But at the appointment I was told that it wasnt. he wanted to do a full inspection to ensure that it wasnt something else-- which we did and found nothing else wrong-- I was then told that the cost for replacement of pump was $3,000 -- I came home and did some searching on the internet to see if others with 2011 Tundras had the same issues found out that there were many listed- also found out that 2007-2010 had recalls for this pump--- I contacted Toyota customer service today and found out that nothing could be done for me- said the pump was only warranted for 30,000 miles and also was told that there werent any issues with my Vin number---seems strange to me that this has been an issue with Toyota but not mine- I also told customer service that this has happened for a couple years in a row when it cold outside here in Minnesota- I also told him that when the light would come on I would have it checked to ensure that nothing serious happening with local dealer autozone - it then would be reset and when I would bring it into toyota it would show no problem .
I own two other Toyotas currently besides my tundra- I have been loyal to Toyota for many years and have recommended them to many others- But I am now frustrated that with the low miles , on my truck and that the same issue has been known about since 2007 is happening to me.
