Today I walked in to Petsmart for my dog's grooming appointment. When I went in I told a young lady that I was I was here for my appointment and she politely said someone will be right with me. As I waited Chrissy, grooming manager, whispered (but not low enough) to another groomer, "it looks like she needs a haircut too." Someone then came up and I canceled my appointment and confronted Chrissy about what she said. She then said she wasn't talking about me. I spoke to a manager (didn't get her name, she was an older woman) who was very polite and said she will deal with the situation. I appreciated her care and concern with the matter.
This is very offensive because she is a white woman and I am an african american woman that wears my hair in its natural state. She also didn't deny what she said, she just said she wasn't talking about me, although, I was the only customer in the grooming department. This young lady is in the customer service industry and should not speak that way around customers. This may not be her first time.
Unfortunately, I will now go to PetCo across the street for my dog's grooming and pet supplies. I hope this situation will get handled immediately before others leave the store as well.
