Mohammad Naeem Tariq sent a message to Akio Toyoda that said:
Honourable CEO,
I hope you are in the best of health and wealth.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mohammad Naeem Tariq and I'm from Pakistan. In 2017, I bought a brand new Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6L from an authorised Toyota dealership, Toyota Islamabad. Â The vehicle has been completely maintained from the aforementioned authorised 3S Toyota
dealership strictly in accordance with the Toyota Periodic Maintenance Schedule. After the expiry of the warranty in November 2020, the 1ZR-FE engine started to give a cold start rattling noise upon start-up. The vehicle had accumulated 32700 kms by then, which was brought to the notice of the aforementioned dealership. I was told by the Toyota technician there that the VVTi camphaser would require a replacement, however, this 'noise' is unlikely to present any problem in the engine's running should I chose not to have it replaced. I then got in touch with the Indus Motor Company Limited, the assemblers of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan, to get their input on this issue. Their response was "this issue is under discussion" and that I will be "contacted shortly". It's been 20 days since I last heard from them and they haven't replied to my subsequent emails for their rejoinder on the matter.
All this has me worried out of fear for any potential catastrophic safety issue that may arise while driving.
I shall be extremely grateful to you for your kind indulgence in this matter.
With profound regards and best wishes,
Mohammad Naeem Tariq,
Islamabad, Pakistan.
