Please present my proposal to your flight routes manager for Europe or CEO, Mr. Michael O'Leary!
I am Romanian civil servant for EU Affairs, working in Brussels, Belgium.
I appreciate your intentions regarding the opening towards Romania in general but I think there is more potential of the Romanian market in terms of flight development and more can be done!
One of my ideeas is to propose to you to open a weekly flight for a new route Brussels (Zaventen) to Cluj, or Timisoara (Romania) or to any other destination in the North-West of Romania (Transylvania).
There is no direct flight from Brussels / Zaventen to Transilvania! All other companies (low-cost included) fly only to Bucharest, or from Charleroi (Belgium).
Since there is more then 100.000 Romanians living in Belgium (most of the coming from Transylvania or Moldova regions in Romania), and officialy 65.000 only in Brussels, not to mention the others that would like to fly to Transylvania, I am sure that this new rout could be a success if implemented sooner and correct (competition is also seriously thinking of it).
So, check my data, make a feasibility study (impact assessment) and you will see the tourenout! Blueairweb.com has made a quiery on their site, in 2013 - 2014, and Brussels/ Zaventen - Cluj tourened out to be the most popular requested destination, but instead they decided to run a new flisht, as of this spring, to Iasi / Moldova county - Brussels/ Zaventen. So, I think this is your opportunity! The new route that Ryanair intends to introduce to Timisoara / Romania, should be definitively be from Brussels / Zaventen, where you have a base already (and besides Wizzair flys already to Cluj and Timisoara, from Brussels/ Clarleroi).
If you are interested of my proposal, you can disscus further.
