Please read this before you dismiss. My husband and I are retired school teachers building our retirement home. We sold our house and are currently "homeless". I just closed on a loan with 5/3 to begin building. I had signed a contract with my builder and brought it in to 5/3 at the beginning of the loan process. The builder required $10,000 good faith money (which I paid) and $34,000 to begin the build. When it came time to close, I asked about using my money to pay my builder the $34,0000. We were told that it had to be part of the loan or we would have to start all over. I would have lost my builder as well as building time. I signed thinking I could access my money brought to closing to give to him. Now I am in trouble... I need to give him his money. The whole process of the loan through 5/3 has been a disaster. Please help us.
