Steven Lichter sent a message to William Demchak that said:
first time in my life that I have sent an email like this. I am so disturbed by the lack of caring during this unprecedented time. I have been a customer for 40 years (started at Provident Bank). I currently have approx $200k in my checking account. I have a check for $28k that i am trying to deposit electronically in my account and have talked to 10 people at your bank. Of course I have received 10 different answers... but some of the comments have been "you can deposit up to $50k electronically if you have a business account". "You can deposit up to $25k now . but not $28k." "You can deposit in the mail but we are not responsible if it gets lost". "You can deposit at an ATM but we understand that it is less than sanitary". I cant even believe the things I have been told and no one can figure out a way to take my money electronically!! I told them I don't care if I don't have access to the money for a month. But they don't listen .. they just read their screen!! I told them they can wait and be sure its legit as I dont need the money now. But I have no other option since all the branches in the city are closed and I dont have a car in the city.
Mr Demchak. I run a $100m sales and marketing company and I understand rules against fraud. I don't think I have ever been this frustrated with any entity. Nothing bothers me more than when my managers don't use their judgement to make a decision. That's why they are in the position they are. If I wanted everyone at my company to go "by the book", then everyone would make $15 an hour as long as they knew how to read.
I will be leaving the bank after 40 years because how can I work with someone who is not there when I most need them. Its just very sad
