Dear Sir, I just returned from the Quest Diagnostic Lab near my home. I was greeting by a very nice gentleman who instructed me that I was not allowed in unless I was wearing a mask. Understandable, however your company did not provide any masks. I am an ER nurse and I understand the importance of wearing one, but I am concerned that the people entering your buildings are not properly wearing masks. I noticed many patients were elderly and their masks were dirty and in some cases obviously reused procedure masks. I also noticed they were constantly touching their masks and then touching other things. If indeed we all want to keep patients safe, especially the most vulnerable being the elderly, may I suggest you provide masks for them upon entering your facility. This guantees the masks are clean and your staff will remain safe. In the ER where I work, we provide masks, since we deem it policy. we also take the opportunity to educate the patients on how to properly wear masks and the importance of not touching the front of the mask and of course the importance of hand washing. I am interested in your opinion on this matter. I think we can all agree that when policy dictates a mask must be worn, providing a clean mask to our patients provides the best protection to both the patients and your staff. Thank you for your time . Rebecca Beattie RN,MSN CEN. 352-228-0767 Sommerfun07@yahoo.com
