Andrea sent a message to Jeffrey A. Smisek CEO, United Airlines, Inc. – email address that said:
Regarding the woman displaced to accommodate two Pakistani men, forced to relinquish her seat on your aircraft, after sharing the CBS news report detailing the event, this is what I publicly posted on her behalf. My hundreds of thousands of followers will likely respond in kind to this blatant affront. "This is still America, right? Absolutely unacceptable behavior, shame on them. It is untenable. United Airlines simply cannot defend what is indefensible but to claim that they "do not tolerate discrimination" is disingenuous in the extreme. The truth is, they opted to overtly subjugate an American woman ( or ANY woman) in deference to these foreign men or ANY man. Ladies, we have work to do. FEMINISM isn't just another "F" word. There is purpose and reason behind it. The airline employee thought she would quietly tolerate it and obviously didn't want to disturb the Pakistani "holy men" and risk being accused of religious bigotry or worse, cultural discrimination. It was an exceedingly poor judgment call made by someone fearful of the potential repercussions. Let's make noise and drum up some support for this woman. It's our job to stand beside her. As for the 2 men involved, if they don't want to mingle with or associate with or even see 52% of our population, I suggest they go home where the women are treated as goods and chattel. This is beyond repulsive. It is unconscionable. I've drafted a letter to the CEO of United Airlines and if this is not resolved to her satisfaction I will call for a boycott. They need to do the right thing and make amends. NOW!" Sincerely, Andrea
