@republicservice – Donald W Slager – I am writing to ask for your help. I have been a Republic customer since

Jane Sullivan sent a message to Donald W Slager that said:

I am writing to ask for your help.
I have been a Republic customer since moving to Athens GA four years ago. Today, I notified Republic via their customer support line of my request to cancel my service.
I sited both customer service as well as cost issues as my reason.
Immediately I was told my rate could be negotiated. Given that I had already done that, I declined. In fact, my rate was reduced for one billing cycle, but then on the next bill, it had gone back up again.
When asked about customer service, I explained that I had a hard time reaching them and that my trash and recycling, scheduled for Monday pick up, had been missed several times.
I was informed that I because it was eventually picked up I would receive no credit. By “eventually” I mean I received four daily emails stating that pick up would happen tomorrow. It was finally picked up 6 days later.
Bad customer service, higher costs, and no credit despite a week of no service. Then to add insult I was told that since I was paid through the end of July, my last pick up would be Monday, July 30 and that I could schedule my can return for the same day and that I would be billed for $50!
I said in that case, cancel immediately and use the prorated portion for the can return fee. I was told they couldn’t do that. When I said I would not pay that, I would just return the cans myself, I was told it wasn’t allowed.
At this point, I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager. I hung up, angry and frustrated.
There was no one else to turn to, so after some internet sleuthing, I have gone straight to the top and contacted you.
I am asking for your intervention in this matter. I wish to return my trash and recycle bin and simply want to know where.
