Thomas Algeo sent a message to Michael OLeary that said:
Dear Mr O\'Leary,
Next weekend, the 28th of November, myself and a fellow student from Durham University will be taking part in a charity challenge, Jailbreak 2015 ( http://www.durhamduck.org/jailbreak/ ), in which the objective is to get as far away from Durham as possible in a 36 hour window by any means possible, without spending any money at all. The challenge will begin at 8am on Saturday at HMP Durham, and we will have until 8pm on Sunday to complete the objective. In the past students have made it as far as Australia, Russia and Dubai!
Throughout the weekend, and for the next year, we will be fundraising for a charity called \'Save a Child\'s Heart\', which provides life-saving cardiac surgery and a number of other medical procedures, specifically for children. As well as this, it contributes to the training of thousands of doctors all over the world, aiming to overcome racial and cultural boundaries. Here is a link to their website, for more information - http://www.saveachildsheart.com
Our goal is to reach Europe from the UK and proceed to hitchhike our way across the continent (although this is only one of our goals, it would be amazing to get to continent), and in doing so, to raise as much money and awareness as possible for a fantastic cause!
The reason we are contacting you is that we are hoping you may be able to help us raise even more money for charity. In past years companies such as Virgin Air and KLM have donated free flights to foreign countries for Jailbreak contestants ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGZhH7Os9D8&app=desktop ), helping teams raise massive amounts of money. The way we are hoping you can help us is by perhaps donating travel on Ryanair flight from Newcastle Airport to one of your many destinations in Europe or further! By doing this, we can raise more and more money as we continue to travel across Europe/the World. Along with this, the further we can get the more exposure we will be able to create for both \'Save a Child\'s Heart\' and Jailbreak.
A local Durham taxi company have already offered us free travel to the airport if we can acquire tickets, and it would be wonderful to have your support.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this email. Whether or not you can directly help us, we are happy to have shared with you what we believe is a great cause.
Thank you again!
Best wishes,
Thomas Algeo
