Good afternoon, I just went shopping at Safeway in Willits, CA. I was purchasing a $50 gift card for my granddaughter and the cashier asked if I was paying cash and I said that I was using my visa credit card to purchase my food and gift card. He told me that I must use cash to buy the visa gift card. I asked why, he didnât know except that corporate said so. I then called corporate Safeway and no one could tell me why this is now required. I got transferred to 2 other people at corporate and the last person I talked to said that corporate made that decision and she couldnât give me anyone that could tell me why this policy was recently made.
I am hoping you can tell me why I couldnât buy a Visa $50 gift card with my visa credit card like I have for the last 10 years at this store.
I also was planning to buy over $4000 in gift cards for all my family members for Christmas. My family members live in California and one works for the coast guard in Kodiak Alaska.
Plmk what can be done to allow me to purchase my holiday gift cards.
