Normally the updates just screw with my SQL Server settings and I cannot use ACT for Window database until I reset the settings. This time it got rid of it completely as well as a number of other programs.
It also messed up my screen settings so that a screen was duplicated and did not recognize the three screens and then later on the cursor kept skipping across one.
I'm not sure any non MS data files are lost but it appears that this recent update also erased all the restore points so that was unavailable to me.
Really a total and utter FUBAR.
I've already spent 4 hours on this today with more to come reloading software and, with what I imagine at this point is a lot of luck, restoring the data to those programs. I have backups - I use three. An utter waste of time and something I really did not need. I'm nearing retirement age and I don't feel like spending my time mucking about with MS crap.
I hope your day goes better than mine and please tell your software engineers to stop screwing up Windows.
