Shattering experience with your bank teller - verbal elderly/disabled person abuse
Mr. Corbat,
I have an account with this bank for over 20 years and will gladly give you my personal banking information and SS number for verification.
I often ask my 74 y old Mom to run to the bank and help me with depositing checks and changing bills, etc.
This time was different.
Please note that it is Saturday morning 7 am now and only few minutes ago I found out from Mom what has been bothering her, why has she not been herself... She (my Mom's name is Marika) was tearful and worried this morning and I pressed a bit to find out why... what has happened to affect her, what made her fragile hands tremble as her voice did just now...
She is incredible lady, my Mom. She has muscular dystrophy of her hands since she's been 18, but it has never stopped her doing things in her life. She's done more than me or anyone I've known!!!
We both are proud American Citizens, we have only each other on this earth, and value immensely human factor and communication in everyday life... We are kind people.
What upset my Mom and what she didn't want to tell me was that the Citibank teller she deposited almost $3000 of my checks to, was rude and dismissive towards her. She/teller refused to change $20's into hundreds and stated "they don't do that".... That in itself is utmost unprofessional and outright lie that should be addressed immediately. It is the bank after all, right... Where else would one go to change currencies?
This attitude and dismissive tone changed my Mom's day and even today she's not her cheery self... She thinks she's done something wrong, something that warranted such uncalled for tone in her trip to your bank.
Can you believe it!!!
This is why I am taking my time and am demanding You, Citibank Executives, look into your banking practices and stress the human factor in communication training for your bank tellers.
Little thoughtless words and actions cause deep wounds in some.....
We have to be kind towards each other!
Especially if you are employee in intercommunication business such as banking...
You can find out from my name even all you need about my account. Incident happened yesterday, 11/35/2016 at 15:42 pm at your Canoga Park Branch in California. Receipt I'm holding does not show where it's from, but from I understand, that's the branch.
Teller was armenian lady with blonde hair and last name ending in "yan" or "ian". That's all I could get out of my mom...
I will be calling branch as soon as it opens. I will go there myself, if necessary to identify the person and explain to her the power of words....
I hope you understand me. Especially if you have elderly parents that are living for you, their child/children, and trying their hardest to be of help and be useful at this stage of their lives. I hope you hug them or call them daily, as I do... I hope you get hurt when they get hurt, even unintentionally by simply an imperfect human being... Like I did this morning.
