Robert D Stock sent a message to Ronald Sargent that said:
Iâm a responsible shopper. I use blank CDs & DVDs. I usually purchase them when Staples has a sale and I buy the tower stack of discs. I can never remember if I should buy DVD + R or DVD â R. I usually ask the geek desk the difference. I purchased the +R stack at the last 2 sales. So I have 2 new stacks. I didnât use them right away.
Later, I was working on a video project and just finished using my old stack which were DVD-Rs. When I opened one of the new DVD+R stack and began using them. My video editing software would not render onto the +R discs.
Since I had purchases 2 stacks of DVD+R discs and had opened one, I took the unopened stack back to Staples in Penfield, NY to see if I could swap them for a stack of DVD-Rs. The cost for DVD+R and DVD-R is the same so it would be an even swap. I wasnât asking for my money back. I just wanted to swap them out so Iâd have a stack of DVD-Rs that would work for my video rendering project.
I always get an electronic receipt (save the paper) so I knew the Staples cashier would be able to look up my DVD+R stack purchase. She did so and then told me because of the Covid Pandemic and because it was more than ten days since I purchased the unopened DVD+R stack. She could not help me. Needless to say I was not happy. I didnât show her my disgust over the situation and left the store.
I have worked in customer service for a very long time and Iâd like to say that I did not receive good service. I wasnât asking for my money back. My request was not going to cost Staples anything. It was an even swap that could have resulted in a very satisfied customer. Instead Staples has a disgruntled customer willing to tell anyone that will listen how unfair I was treated at the Penfield Store. So far there is not one person that Iâve told, that agrees with Staples handling of this situation. None!
The covid pandemic certainly has nothing to do with a return or in my case an even swap of product. I will continue to tell my story until Staples agrees to let me make an even swap of products. Are you please with your companyâs reaction to my request and your Staples employeeâs handling of the situation. If not, how will you rectify the situation? Please advise!
Sincerely,
Robert D. Stock
